Hello. My
name is Scott Bohrer, and welcome to the first entry in my blog, that I have
entitled “Tales from the Downwardly Mobile.” Thank you for checking it out, and
I hope you enjoy it and come back to read more entries! I’ve never really done
a blog; I’ve always meant to, but mainly just put up quick blog entries and
comments on other blogs that are probably buried way better than Jimmy Hoffa ever
could be. But that’s not to say I haven’t ever written anything. Mostly I write
course curriculums and communications pieces for my job at Community Health
Certification, LLC, a family-run health education company owned by my brother,
Robert (Yes; this is a shameless plug by a communications professional to drum
up business.).
I’ve been
working to grow the company since 2007, and though I enjoy what I do immensely,
I realized I need an outlet for writings outside of the category of medical
training courses and the perpetual hustle of the mad grab for earned media and
business promotion. However, I will always find a way to slide some of that in
here, as well (Hey, I’m a communications guy, first and foremost; it’s out of
my hands.). But this is really just going to be a personal blog, first and
foremost.
I’m going to
write about things that are on my mind; current affairs; cool events that are
going on around the world; and if you, the reader, are so inclined, answering
questions posed by you. And of course, funny things about the downward mobility
some of us might be experiencing in our personal and professional lives. I want
to keep the content somewhat light and humorous, since you have to be able to
laugh at certain things (or else you would most likely be crying… a lot). I also figure I’m not some kind of snowflake
that’s unique, special, and one of a kind; so, I think what I write about will
strike chords and have common ground with a lot of people who read this. At
least, I hope. I do have some ground rules, though…
First off,
I’m not much for keyboard warriors. I want this blog to be an exchange of ideas
and a healthy and polite debate of differing viewpoints; think of Plato’s
“Marketplace of Ideas,” if you will. So, if anyone is being disrespectful to
other participants, I won’t tolerate it. Far too many hurtful and destructive
things are already said under the guise of anonymity on the internet. Think of
it this way: if you don’t have the stones to say something to someone’s face in
person, don’t say it here. That said, don’t be a jerk and everyone can enjoy
what have the potential to be fun and enlightening discourses.
Second, I
like to paint, and from time to time I will post paintings along with the
entries. All that I ask is if you like a painting, and want to share it on your
blog, or wherever, just give me credit. I will do the same if I share something
of yours.
Well, that’s
all for the rules; it all breaks down to respecting one another and living by
the golden rule. Again, thanks for reading. I am now going to write my next
entry.
